John H. Donovan

John H. Donovan Sr., 94, of West Haven passed away December 12, 2017.  He was the beloved husband of the late Jean Teresa Tallon Donovan.  Born in New Haven on February 10, 1923 to the late Michael J. and Mary A. McHugh Donovan, he attended St. Lawrence School and was an active member of the Parish.

John was a WWII Veteran serving in the US Army Air Corp. which is now the Air Force.  After graduating from Bryant College, John was an accountant for Anthem Blue Cross retiring in 1988.  An active volunteer for W.H.E.A.T. Food Bank in West Haven he served as past President on the board. He was an avid golfer and bowler on the CMS Bowling League in New Haven. John was a devoted Father and Grandfather and will be sadly missed.  

John is survived by his three children, John H. (Cher) Donovan Jr., Stephen P. (Joleen) Donovan and Thomas P. (Flora) Donovan Sr.   He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. John is predeceased by a grandson Michael and a step-grandson Stephen.

Family and friends may call at the Keenan Funeral home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven Sunday, December 17 from 2pm – 5pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, December 18 at St. Lawrence Church, 207 Main Street, West Haven at 10am. Interment will follow the Mass at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven with full Military Honors.
