James A. Hawley

James Albert Hawley entered into eternal rest on March 4, 2017 after a lengthy illness surrounded by family and friends.  He was born in New Haven, Ct. on August 3, 1945 to the late David and Cora Lewis Hawley.  He was a lifetime resident of West Haven, Ct. and attended West Haven Public Schools.  

"JJ", "Doc" or "Pop" as he was affectionately called, belonged to the City Point Yacht Club and was a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.  He

Enjoyed fishing, relaxation on his boat and was also an avid Yankee Fan.

Jimmy loved his family and truck driving.  "FAMILY" extended beyond his biological members and encompassed an unlimited number into our “FAMILY CIRCLE”. You know who you are you were loved very much by him.  Jimmy was instrumental in helping so many enter the trucking industry through entrepreneurship and employment.

James Albert Hawley's memories will be forever cherished by his two daughters, Treena Cortez-Gomez (Damien), Carmela (Theodore) Clark, four grandsons, two great-grandchildren all from Siler City N.C., sisters Carolyn Pittman-Suggs, Ednora Guimares, New Haven, Ct., brothers Charles (Audrey) Silver Spring, Md, David (Barbara) Hamden, Ct., Lester (Dorothea) Auburn, Al., Theodore and John, Hartford,Ct., Gerald (Orel) Guilford,Ct. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, David Walter and Cora Lewis Hawley, sister Cynthia Bell and son Mark Hanna.  He will always remain in the hearts of the numerous friends and relatives who loved him dearly.
