Gene, or Mr. Sullivan as he was known to us in Boy Scouts, was an excellent leader whose kindness and good-spirited nature shone through in everything he did. No camping trip was complete until Mr. Sullivan arrived late, usually with the bad weather. Chores had to be done "with gusto!" and at the end of trips, unclaimed personal items would be "going in the trash on the count of three!" until of course the time it happened to be his own toothbrush. My condolences to his family, he was a role model for many of us and will be missed.

I was so very sad to learn of Gene's death because I knew him well as a fellow Bethany Wanderer and as one of our top leaders on some of our weekly hikes, esp. longer ones.. As chairman of the group for 30 years, I welcomed his dependable leadership and kindly personality. He was well liked and I l think enjoyed our group as much as it enjoyed him. I remember several times when the Wanderer officers met in his charming home (which he loved and kept it as his wife would have) for planning trips. We would sit in the kitchen and enjoy his company as he served us refreshments. It was so enjoyable and comfortable that we did not want to leave!I I will always remember Gene. (Barrie Collins)
