Edward Long Sr.

Edward Long Sr. 82, of West Haven, beloved husband of Patricia Leahy Long, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital.  Edward was born in New Haven, Connecticut on April 13, 1934 to the late Fred Frat-Antonio and Helen Rochealu. Edward was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 7th Quartermaster Company and receiving the Medal of Good Conduct.  He was employed by the New Haven Board of Education for over 32 years until his retirement in 1991.  Edward was a member of the Italian American Club in West Haven and was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son; Edward (Diann Foster) Long Jr.; a nephew, John (Heidi) Long; two grandchildren, Jessica Trumbull and Taylor Long, and one great-grandson, Joseph Trumbull Jr.  Edward was predeceased by two brothers, John and William Long.  The family would like to extend their gratitude for the excellent care of Edward to the staff at The Mary Wade Home in New Haven, as well as West River Rehabilitation in Milford.  There will be no public calling hours and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
