Doris M. Gargano

Doris M. Gargano, age 85 passed away surrounded by her family on September 23, 2017 at CT Hospice.  She was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin Gargano.  Doris was born in New Haven on August 24, 1932 to the late George and Mary (Heery) Dunkhase.

Doris was employed at Grandway Dept. Store in West Haven for over 15 years.  She then went on to work for Vine Products in West Haven where she retired after 25 years.  She was a member West Cove Marina in West Haven, and proud to be in the Railroad family.  Most of all, family first, she was devoted to her family and will be sadly missed.

Doris is survived by her two daughters Doreen (Joe) Redente of Hamden, and Barbara (Jack) Evans of California and one sister Phyllis Zullo of West Haven.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, Thomas (Angela) Haggerty, Shannon Haggerty, Kate (Brandon) Kunkle and Sara Evans and three great grandchildren, Kaylee and Tommy Haggerty and Owen Kunkle, and many nieces and nephews.  Doris is predeceased by her sister Barbara Saccu.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday September 30, at 11am St. Lawrence Church, Main St. West Haven.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford, CT 06405.
