Anne Marie Galla

Anne Marie (Catenza) Galla, 89, of West Haven, beloved wife of the late James Galla Jr., passed away on Friday August 4, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital.  Anne was born on January 24, 1928 in West Haven, CT to the late Antonio and Maria (Franco) Catenza. 

Anne was a longtime resident of West Haven and was employed by the West Haven Buckle Company until its closing in 1993. She was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church and taught the Catholic faith through Catechism for many years. Anne had a passion for cooking, gardening and bird watching.  However, she will be mostly remembered for her deep and undying love and devotion to her family.  Anne enjoyed all family gatherings and holidays simply because she was able to spend time with those who she loved so much. 

She is survived by her two children, son; James Galla III (Patricia) and his step-son Sean, her daughter; Mary-Ellen Galla, her sister; Delores Testa (Louis), two grandchildren; Jason Marini and Brittney Melin, two great-grandchildren; Celeste Battipaglia and Dustin Arsich, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a dear friend Norine Withington.  Besides her husband James Jr., she was predeceased by her six brothers; Harry, Raymond, Louis, Dominic, George, and John, as well as her four sisters; Kathleen, Lucy, Phyllis, and Anna (twin sister to Dominic). She was also predeceased by her dear friend Ruth Devlin.

Family and friends are welcomed to gather at the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St. West Haven, on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 4-7pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 11am at St. John Vianney Church, 300 Captain Thomas Blvd. West Haven.  Everyone is asked to gather directly at church Wednesday morning for Mass.  Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
