WEST HAVEN ~ Julia “Judy” Ferrie, 91, a life-long resident of West Haven, devoted wife of the late Vincent J. Ferrie, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at her home, after a short illness. She was born in West Haven, March 15, 1923, a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Maria Fortiguerra Pergolatto. Judy retired as a receiving clerk after being employed with Sears for over 30 years. She had been an avid duck pin bowler thru the 60s, 70s, and 80s, holding many state and national titles. She enjoyed a trip to the casino, was an avid reader, loved UCONN Women’s Basketball, the Detroit Tigers, and the N. Y. Mets. She is survived by her children, Gary (Heidi) Barnes, of Beacon Falls, and Judy (Art) Oberempt, of West Haven; two grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Kim (Lou) Riley, of Florida, and Amee Oberempt, of West Haven, and three dearly loved great-grandchildren, Amanda, Sean, and Chelsea. She also leaves her sister, Mary Kelly, of West Haven, and many nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, James, and Manuel, and three sisters, Ann D’Amico, Connie Pastore, and Sue Faggiana. The funeral will be from the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, Wednesday morning at 8:15. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory R. C. Church at 9:00. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
