Christopher Powers, age 88, of North Haven, CT, passed away peacefully at his home on April 3, 2024.
Born in New Haven, CT, Christopher was one of 13 children. He dedicated over 30 years of his career as a warehouse supervisor for Stop & Shop Warehouse in North Haven.
Christopher lived life with zest and was deeply devoted to his family. His infectious laughter and quick wit, especially around his grandchildren, will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. A dedicated sports fan, he cheered passionately for the Yankees, Giants football, and UConn women’s basketball. He had a soft spot for the thrill of the casino and cherished his 25 memorable trips to Disney. An avid fan of classic cinema, he particularly enjoyed watching old westerns on the TCM channel, especially films starring John Wayne. His playful nature shone through during family game nights, always eager for a round of UNO – and occasionally attempting a cheeky cheat. Christopher had a profound love for music, with a special fondness for Elvis songs and movies, as well as traditional Irish music. He ventured to Ireland on three occasions, not only to explore its beauty but also to reconnect with his Irish cousins.
Christopher is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Kathleen (Meliso) Powers. He was predeceased by his daughter, Juliet Ferraro. He leaves behind his devoted son-in-law, Thomas Ferraro, son Raymond Powers (Marilyn), daughters Judy (John) Breger, Michele (Mike) Ferraro, Lauralee Battista (Albert), and daughter Kathleen (David) Reall. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Thomas John, Ash, Tom, Ray (Stephanie), Kyle (Loren), Tyler, Mary, Mikey, Nicholas, Morgan, Christopher David, Albert the 4th, and John, as well as his great-grandchildren, Luna Powers and Sinha Kishore. Christopher also leaves behind several cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends and family may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, CT on Tuesday, April 9 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
